Waste Technology Section

Current and Forthcoming Activities

The IAEA's Waste Technology Section (WTS) covers a broad spectrum of activities from radioactive waste characterization and conditioning to disposal, decommissioning and site remediation. The work covers the planning, technologies and approaches needed for the safe and efficient management of different types of radioactive waste, including waste from nuclear power plants, nuclear fuel cycle facilities, non-power nuclear activities, decommissioning, and environmental remediation.
